Tax Incentives

Tax Incentives

Pergolas, awnings, and solar shading may qualify for tax deductions related to energy efficiency and home renovations: here is how they work in 2026.

Those who purchase and install solar shading, a bioclimatic pergola, or an awning may, subject to specific technical requirements, benefit from a tax deduction on the expenses incurred. There are two available incentives with different rules and purposes: the Ecobonus, linked to energy efficiency, and the Home Bonus, linked to building renovations. They cannot be combined for the same project: one or the other must be chosen depending on the case.

The information on this page is for guidance purposes only and does not replace the advice of an accountant or tax assistance center (CAF): tax incentive rates and requirements can change with annual budget laws; always verify the regulations in force at the time of purchase.

Ecobonus and Home Bonus Comparison

Ecobonus

Designed for the energy efficiency of the home. In 2026, the deduction is 50% for the primary residence and 36% for other real estate units, with a maximum spending limit of €60,000 per unit (supply and installation included).

The recognized maximum expenditure is €276/sqm, net of VAT and professional services.

Home Bonus

Designed for building renovation projects. In 2026, it offers a 50% deduction on the primary residence (36% on other units), with an eligible spending limit of €96,000, for a maximum deduction of €48,000. A reduced VAT rate of 10% may also apply to maintenance work.

Keep in mind: for 2026, rates are at an all-time high (50% on primary residences); progressive reductions are already planned starting in 2027 (36% in 2027, 30% from 2028). For households with a total income between €75,000 and €100,000, the annual deduction cap is €14,000; above €100,000, it drops to €8,000.

Technical Requirements for the Ecobonus

Not all shading systems automatically grant access to the deduction: the product must meet specific technical requirements.

Permanent Attachment

The shading must be fixed in a stable and permanent manner to the building, not as a mobile or removable element.

Protection of a Glazed Surface

It must protect a window, a French door, or another glazed surface of the home from solar radiation.

East-West Orientation

All exposures between East and West are permitted, excluding North (blackout shutters are an exception and are permitted on any exposure).

Solar Factor gtot ≤ 0.35

The total solar transmission factor of the shading, certified by the manufacturer, must be equal to or less than 0.35.

Eligible ADARTE Products

Typically eligible products include: awnings, adjustable sunshades like Spatyo, technical blinds for glass surfaces like Crystallo, and bioclimatic pergolas when equipped with certified adjustable louvers. Verification of the gtot requirement must always be done product by product together with your ADARTE dealer.

How to Apply

  • Payment must be made via a “talking” bank transfer, indicating the reference law, the beneficiary’s tax code, and the supplier’s VAT number.
  • Within 90 days of the completion of the work, an electronic communication must be sent to ENEA via the bonusfiscali.enea.it portal, which generates a CPID code.
  • The invoice, bank transfer, manufacturer’s declaration of conformity (with the gtot value), and the ENEA communication receipt must be kept.
  • No prior application is necessary: the deduction is recovered directly in the tax return, in 10 equal annual installments.
